Next Saturday the Turkish president Erdogan is expected in Cologne to attend the opening ceremony of the mosque in Cologne Ehrenfeld.
In the whole city and in particular around the mosque (and our hostel) it will come to substantial restrictions for pedestrians and vehicles. In specially created security areas, which will probably include the world receiver, all authorized persons will be granted access, but you should be prepared for waiting times at the entrances.
According to the police, this situation can extend from around 9 a.m. into the early evening hours.
Here we have compiled a recommendation for the best ways to reach us during the entire Saturday.
It is important that you have an identity document and your booking confirmation printed out as proof of entitlement with you.
It will be most difficult to get through to us by car. There will be extensive stop and no parking zones between 0 and 24h. It is best to park somewhere near Ehrenfeld train station (Bahnhof Ehrenfeld) and walk to us from there.
The subway will only be restricted and partly not run at all. It is best to take the S-Bahn or RegionalBahn to Bahnhof Ehrenfeld (also from the airport). From there, walk through the smaller streets to us.
No Parking Zone
As soon as we have more information, we will publish it here. In addition, the Cologne police have up-to-date information available on Facebook and Twitter, as well as at https://koeln.polizei.nrw.
